The other problem is how you translate a big ole graveyard to win in a multiplayer setting without him, and IMO, this is where lands stuff can be pretty useful since flipping Narcomebas and Creeping Chills won't exactly get you there. Unfortunately, you do miss out on the easy Lab Man wins with this choice. MH1 also gives you an extra utility dredger in ], ] for more land recursion nonsense (maybe some ] lock action?), and even some spice with ] turning all your lands into potential draws. The colors are pretty good for it, as you have access to common ] "combos" like ] and ]. His +2 is worded in a way that really benefits dredge, letting you replace that draw immediately if you want to. ![]() ] is actually a pretty underrated option for this sort of thing IMO. This seems the most logical for getting some grindy value. I'm wanting to build EDH dredge, which has always been on the list, and I can't pick a commander. Messing with the graveyard is always what the heart wants, despite some poor Meren decks in the past.
